2006 Riesling-Traminer Icewine
The grapes were grown by Watson's Farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake and harvested in late January and early February 2007. The harvest was late due to a prolongued Spring, with the first day of Icewine harvest not coming until January 17. I bought 13L of juice, which was settled before pick up in the second week of March.
The grapes are from the original Riesling-Traminer clone, which was developed in Germany and is a cross between Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Ontario imports all it's European vines from France, and this particular vine wasn't supposed to be allowed into Ontario. I'm not sure how Kevin Watson got a hold of them, but they're unique to the area and I'm glad to get my hands on this juice.
