The purpose of this journal is twofold: to detail my own winemaking processes as I evolve as a winemaker; as well as to document any inspirations, resources or other noteworthy info I find about wine or winemaking.

I don't plan on writing everyday, so this probably isn't the kind of journal you'll want to check in with on a regular basis. But I do plan on writing every time something of interest happens -- either I read something interesting about wine/winemaking, or I so something noteworthy with my wines.

My Background

In the Fall of 2004, Sasha Verhage, a friend of mine from work, asked me if I'd like to help him out with harvest that year for his small boutique winery Eno Wines. Sasha was exceedingly generous with his time, and in return for helping him out, he patiently described and explained every step of the process, in as much detail as I could handle.

Towards the end of harvest, I was able to buy 200 lbs of grapes from one of the Sasha's vineyard partners to make for myself. If worked out fairly well and I was hooked. I continued to make wine with Sasha, and on my own at home, for the next two harvests. I moved home to Toronto, Ontario in January of 2006.

Since moving home, I've been exploring and learning a lot about the Ontario wine industry, and trying my hand with local white-wine and Icewine grapes.
